Native Associations in Moldova to meet on 7 May
The Forum of the Alliance of Native Associations in Moldova, organized on 7 May 2025, will highlight the results of the structure's two years of activity and emphasize the active role of native associations in the sustainable local development process, with the support of the Swiss Government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Moldova.
According to UNDP, key achievements will be presented, and the winners of a grant call aimed at promoting social cohesion at the local level and intergenerational cooperation will be announced.
“Over 100 people will participate in the event: representatives of government institutions, development partners, members of native associations and diaspora, local public authorities, civil society organizations. Participants will share ideas, experiences, and visions for the development of more united, resilient, and inclusive communities, where each generation actively contributes to local progress,” explains UNDP.
Since 2016, as part of Switzerland-UNDP Migration and Local Development project, over 160 Native Associations (56%) and initiative groups (44%) have been developed based on Diaspora, Migration and Development model piloted in the Republic of Moldova.
The joint actions carried out by Native Associations across the country have demonstrated over time that there is enormous potential in local resources. To strengthen capacities at the local level and create opportunities at the national level, this potential must be continuously harnessed and developed through a national structure.
In this regard, the Alliance of Native Associations becomes the core that aims to unite all Native Associations in the country for a common goal.
