Presidential elections in Romania // Over 11,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship vote on first day of polls

A number of 11,648 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship have voted on the first day of the presidential election in Romania, according to real-time data published by the Permanent Electoral Authority. As many as 109,866 Romanians from outside Romania voted by 21:00, local time.

Sixty four polling stations were opened in Moldova for the presidential elections in Romania. The stations are located in the North, Center, and South regions. Most polling stations were in Chisinau and the Central region.

Outside Romania, voting takes place over three days:

* Friday, May 2, between 7:00 and 21:00 (local time);

* Saturday, May 3, between 7:00 and 21:00 (local time);

* Sunday, May 4, between 7:00 (local time) and 21:00 (local time in Romania).

At the 965 polling stations abroad, organized for the 2025 presidential elections, Romanian citizens who are abroad on the day of the election can vote, regardless of whether or not they have domicile or residence outside the country

The presidential elections are held after the Constitutional Court of Romania cancelled the results of the first round of the presidential polls, organized in November 2024.

There are 11 candidates running for the office of Romania’s president.
