MPs proposed 188 amendments and delivered 288 speeches in first 2026 session

MPs proposed 188 amendments to draft laws and delivered 288 speeches during the plenary sittings of the first ordinary session of Parliament in 2026. In the same period, the people's elected representatives submitted 10 interpellations to the authorities, approved three political declarations, and filed four simple motions.

According to the Parliament's Communication and Public Relations Department, most of the amendments were proposed by MPs from the Action and Solidarity Party faction – 82. Members of the Alternative faction submitted 66 amendments, MPs from the Democracy at Home faction – 16, representatives of Our Party faction – 12, MPs of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova faction – 10, while MPs from the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova faction and unaffiliated MPs submitted one amendment each.

During the examination of legislative initiatives, MPs delivered 288 speeches. Most speeches were given by MPs from Action and Solidarity Party faction – 114. Representatives of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova faction delivered 49 speeches, those of Democracy at Home faction – 37, of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova faction – 34, of Our Party faction – 27, of Alternative faction – 24, while unaffiliated MPs delivered three speeches. Among the MPs with the highest number of speeches are Renato Usatîi – 14; Diana Caraman – 12; Inga Sibova and Vasile Costiuc – 11 each; Marcel Spatari, Vlad Batrîncea and Ion Chicu – 10 each; and Alexandru Verșinin – 9. MPs Lilian Carp, Vasile Grădinaru, Petru Burduja and Sergiu Stefanco delivered eight speeches each.

During the reference period, MPs addressed 10 interpellations to the authorities, requesting information and clarifications on topics of public interest such as public administration, internal affairs, labour and social protection, environment, infrastructure, energy and natural resources.

At the same time, four simple motions were submitted to Parliament, all of which were rejected. They concerned the public policies of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection in the field of demographic policy, prevention and reduction of poverty, and compensation of energy costs; the state's policy in the field of national defence and protection of military personnel; energy policy and energy security, including in the context of consumer protection and tariff stability; as well as the policies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.

Two parliamentary hearings were also held on the policies and measures taken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the field of preventing and combating drug use and trafficking, as well as on the pollution of the Dniester River and its impact on the environment and public health.

During the session, Parliament adopted three political declarations concerning the condemnation of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine; the condemnation of the Russian Federation for transboundary pollution of the Dniester River and the damage caused to the security of water supply and public health; and the fight against tobacco consumption, the promotion of the "Smoke-Free Parliament" concept and the protection of young people's right to a healthy life.

Throughout the first ordinary session of 2026, public administration authorities presented 51 reports to the legislature on their activities and areas of responsibility. Ten reports were examined in plenary sittings, and following their examination, seven Parliament decisions were adopted. These include the Report on the observance of human rights and freedoms in the Republic of Moldova, the activity reports of the National Anti-Corruption Centre, the National Commission for the Financial Market, the National Integrity Authority, the Audiovisual Council, and the National Agency for Settlement of Complaints. Another 27 reports were examined in meetings of the standing parliamentary committees.
