President Maia Sandu announced that the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the Republic of Moldova will be marked by a military parade and a concert. She emphasized that the event reflects the efforts made in recent years to strengthen defense capabilities and the authorities’ commitment to ensuring peace and the safety of citizens.
The head of state noted that the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of independence is a particularly important moment, and the military parade will highlight its significance.
“We have many things that we should appreciate and be proud of. In recent times, we have invested – largely with external support, but also from certain internal resources – in strengthening the defense system of the Republic of Moldova, because peace is the most important, and the safety of citizens is our main concern. We will organize a military parade and we are expecting all those who are curious to come and watch it. It will be a large-scale event and I believe it is important to show people how we have strengthened the defense system, precisely to increase the chances of maintaining peace,” Maia Sandu said.
The President added that the festivities dedicated to Independence Day will continue with a concert by local artists, to which all citizens are invited.
“There will be a concert with our favorite artists. I hope to see as many of them as possible on stage and, of course, we are waiting for citizens to come and celebrate together,” Maia Sandu remarked.
On August 27, the Republic of Moldova marks 35 years since the proclamation of independence, which was adopted by Parliament on August 27, 1991.
The holiday will be marked through a series of events included in a decision recently approved by the Government. According to the document, the authorities plan to organize more than twenty cultural, educational, commemorative and festive activities, which will take place throughout the entire year.
