Over 23,000 residents from Transnistrian region officially employed on right bank of Dniester River

According to data provided by the State Tax Service, in the first half of 2026, 23,029 people residing in the Transnistrian region were officially registered as employees on the right bank of the Dniester River. 57.28% are men (13,190 people) and 42.72% are women (9,839 people), which represents an increase of 66.8% compared to the same period of the previous year, when 13,810 people were registered.

The geographical distribution shows a strong concentration in the municipality of Chișinău, where over 72% of all employees are active, mostly coming from the cities of Bender (28.5%), Tiraspol (13.9%), Rîbnița (12%), Dubăsari (8.95%), and Grigoriopol (4%).

Regarding professional preferences, the main sectors that have attracted workers from the region are:

Trade: retail trade (especially non-specialized food stores) and wholesale trade of construction materials.

Manufacturing and Industry: production of electrical/electronic wiring, clothing items, and furniture.

Construction and Transport: road freight transport and building construction works.

Public Sector and Services: general secondary education, health services (hospital care), public administration, public order and civil protection, IT (software development), HORECA sector (restaurants) and car services.

This upward trend confirms the ongoing and stable process of socio-economic integration of residents from the Transnistrian region into the labor market of the Republic of Moldova.

The growing integration into the labor market demonstrates that residents of the left bank of the Dniester and Bender participate directly in the socio-economic development of the Republic of Moldova. Through their work in key sectors and by paying the related contributions, they support the sustainability of the national budget and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
