MEP: Moldova - headline topic in first plenary session of European Parliament
The Republic of Moldova will be one of the central topics on the agenda of the first plenary session of the European Parliament this fall, to be held next week in Strasbourg. MEP Siegfried Mureșan made the statement today.
Siegfried Mureșan announced that three important events dedicated to the Republic of Moldova have been included in the agenda.
"Firstly, MEPs will negotiate and vote on a resolution, co-initiated by me, through which the European Parliament's support for the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union will be reaffirmed. The document will also emphasize the need to increase European support in the face of threats from the Russian Federation," said Mureșan.
He noted that in the same session, a debate will take place on the main elements included in the resolution: the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, the support against Russian aggression, and financial assistance from European funds.
"Another major highlight will be the speech of President Maia Sandu, who will address the European Parliament plenary on Tuesday, at noon. It is important for the people of the Republic of Moldova to see that they are and will remain a priority for the European Parliament and for the European Union," the MEP emphasized.
The European Parliament meets in session from September 8-11.
