Mark Tkaciuk leaves parliamentary faction of Alternative Bloc: I do not understand point of such a faction’s existence

The Common Action Party – Civic Congress is leaving the parliamentary faction of Alternative Bloc. The decision was announced today by the party’s president, Mark Tkaciuk, who is the only MP from this party.

He emphasized that parliamentary factions have been and are created “to unite politicians with common views, to jointly defend these views or what was promised to voters.”

“If there are common views, goals and strategies, shared responsibility for every word spoken, for every electoral promise – then there is a faction. If none of this exists – then there is no faction,” said Mark Tkaciuk.

The leader of the Common Action Party – Civic Congress also stressed that neither he nor the members of the party he represents “understand the point of the existence of such a parliamentary faction.”

“The members of this faction openly state that they no longer bear responsibility for the actions and statements of their colleagues within the formation. In the current situation, any ambiguity is unacceptable. Therefore, the Common Action Party – Civic Congress is leaving the parliamentary faction of the ‘Alternative’ Bloc. This is the only morally acceptable way to respond honestly and openly for all statements, actions and promises included in the electoral program,” the politician said.

On April 10 of this year, the leader of the National Alternative Movement Party (MAN), Ion Ceban, announced that he is withdrawing from the Alternative Bloc, but will continue to be part of the parliamentary faction, which has eight MPs. The other members of the bloc then declared that they had taken note of MAN’s decision and would continue to operate within a joint faction.

The Alternative Bloc was created in January 2025. It included the MAN party, the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova (PDCM), the Common Action Party – Civic Congress, and former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo. The bloc took part in the parliamentary elections of September 28, 2025.
