Moldova's National Alternative Movement Party withdraws from Alternative Bloc, remains in parliamentary faction

The National Alternative Movement Party (MAN) is withdrawing from the Alternative Bloc, but will continue to be part of the parliamentary faction, which has eight MPs. MAN leader Ion Ceban made statements to this effect today afternoon. The other members of the bloc said they had taken note of MAN’s decision and would continue to work in a common faction.

According to Ceban, the MAN lawmakers will be guided in their activity and will express their positions strictly in line with decisions taken together with colleagues of the party, and they will not be responsible for the activities and statements of representatives of other parties.

The MAN leader stressed that his party distances itself from statements that run counter to citizens’ interests.

Shortly after the announcement, Mark Tkaciuk, a member of the Alternative Bloc, and leader of the Civic Congress, said that his party would remain in the bloc.

“We are very different and, probably, the differences have deepened,” Tkaciuk  said.  Ion Chicu, the leader of Moldova’s Party of Development and Consolidation (PDCM) and member of the Alternative Bloc, noted that the parliamentary faction would remain common, but extra‑parliamentary activities would be carried out separately.

The Alternative Bloc was created in January 2025. It included MAN, the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova (PDCM), the Common Action Party – Civic Congress and former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo. The bloc participated in the parliamentary elections of September 28, 2025.

MAN has three MPs: Gaik Vartanean, Angela Cutasevici and Olga Ursu.
