Moldovan Central Electoral Commission accredits five international observers to monitor elections in Gagauzia autonomy
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today accredited five individuals from the Embassy of Lithuania in Moldova as international observers to monitor the elections in the Autonomous Territorial Unit (UTA) of Gagauzia.
The Commission also approved the Instruction on the procedure for organizing, packing, sealing and transmitting documents, electoral materials and electoral equipment after the closing of polling stations at the elections for the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia and for the position of Governor (bashkan) of Gagauzia.
“The Instruction establishes the procedures and deadlines for organizing and transmitting electoral documents and materials, as well as the requirements for packing and sealing them,” the CEC noted.
At the same time, the Commission members authorized a public opinion poll to be conducted by IMAS-CERCETARE ȘI STRATEGII Ltd company during November 5-11, this year, throughout the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, involving a sample of 800 respondents. The survey’s results are to be presented no later than November 12, this year.
The elections for the position of Governor (bashkan) of Gagauzia and for the 35 seats in the autonomy’s People’s Assembly will take place on November 15.
