Moldovan Ambassador to Austria, at Forum for Security Cooperation, says Moldova condemns Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, warns of risks to regional security

Moldova’s Ambassador to Austria and Slovakia, Permanent Representative at OSCE Victoria Rosa has firmly condemned the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine at a meeting of the Forum for Security Cooperation (FSC). The official highlighted the war’s serious impact on the security of Moldova and the entire region.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), the ambassador drew attention to repeated violations of Moldova’s airspace, including recent incidents in which drones crashed near the localities of Codrenii Noi, Donduseni district, and Chistelnita, Telenesti district.

“These incidents constitute violations of our country’s sovereignty and endanger the safety of citizens. Since February 2022, national authorities have recorded 102 airspace violations, of which 65 this year. The MAE firmly condemns the Russian Federation’s attacks on Ukraine’s civilian population and energy infrastructure, which cause loss of life and worsen the humanitarian situation, particularly as the cold season nears. We reiterate the need to hold those responsible for these attacks accountable”, the institution said.

Moldova also expressed solidarity with Romania, in the context of destabilizing actions and violations of its airspace.

“We condemn the attacks on commercial vessels and port infrastructure in the Black Sea and support the European Union’s call for the immediate establishment of a moratorium on these attacks”, the MAE emphasized.

In the context, the MAE called on the Russian Federation to end its war of aggression and withdraw its military forces from the territory of Ukraine. The institution reiterated that Moldova supports a just and lasting peace, based on respect for international law and for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
