Moldovan parliament speaker says Moldova made progress in all 33 EU negotiation chapters, reforms must be felt in people’s lives

Moldova has made progress in all 33 negotiation chapters with the European Union over the past year, while the authorities aim to maintain the pace of reforms and conclude the accession negotiations by the beginning of 2028. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today made statements to this effect, following the publication of the European Commission’s 2026 Enlargement Report.

The speaker noted that the progress recorded in the report was the result of the reforms promoted and the efforts made by thousands of public institutions’ employees.

At the same time, Igor Grosu emphasized that reforms must not remain merely at the level of commitments and official documents, but must bring about concrete changes in citizens’ lives.

“We have results, we have a clear plan and we still have a lot of work ahead. Reforms must also be felt in people’s everyday lives: institutions that work, better public services, a stronger economy and more opportunities here, at home,” the parliament speaker said.

Igor Grosu reiterated his commitment to continuing the agreed transformations and maintaining the pace of the European integration process.

“As we promised in the last elections, we will work to maintain the current pace of reforms and conclude the accession negotiations with the European Union by the beginning of 2028,” the speaker said.

On November 4, the European Commission presented in Brussels the European Union’s annual Enlargement Package for 2026, which includes an assessment of the progress made by Moldova in its accession process.

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov said that the 2026 Enlargement Report, published today by the European Commission, confirmed that Moldova had made significant progress on its European path over the past 12 months.

“We have made progress in all negotiation chapters, and in 25 chapters, we have moved to a higher level of preparedness for accession,” the official noted.

The Commission also proposed a roadmap for Moldova, clearly saying that Moldova can conclude the accession negotiations in 2028, if it maintains the same pace of reforms showed in recent years.
