Speaker invited citizens to 9 May events

Speaker Igor Grosu invited citizens to take part in the events organized on May 9, dedicated to commemorating the victims of the World War II, as well as to celebrating peace, unity, and European values.

The message was delivered at the beginning of the Parliament’s plenary sitting, where the Speaker spoke about the historical significance of May 9 and the importance of preserving peace.

“May 9 has a deeply significant historical meaning. We pay tribute to the victims of the World War II and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, including the approximately 56,000 Moldovans who never returned home from the front,” said Grosu.

According to him, May 9 is also an opportunity to reflect on the value of peace and the lessons offered by history.

“After the tragedy of war, the nations of Europe chose the path of dialogue, cooperation, and unity, laying the foundation of what we now call the European Union, a community of states in which peace is the supreme value,” the Speaker said.

In conclusion, Igor Grosu extended a public invitation to all citizens.

“I invite all citizens to join us on Saturday at the events dedicated to this day, to honor the memory of the past and to celebrate peace, unity, and the European future that we are building together,” he concluded.

Europe Day will be celebrated this year through an extensive program of cultural, educational, and interactive events. The main highlight of the program will be the European Village in Chisinau, organized on May 9.

Starting at 1:00 p.m., the stage of the European Village will host artistic performances inspired by the cultural traditions of the member states of the European Union.

The event will conclude with a concert scheduled for 7:00 p.m., featuring several artists from the Republic of Moldova.
