Moldova’s EU accession process on agenda of EPC Summit's discussions; Romanian president: “We will have an answer by end of June”
The European path of Moldova was one of the topics examined by the leaders attending the European Political Community (EPC) Summit, held in Yerevan, Armenia, today. President of Romania Nicusor Dan has said that an answer on advancing Moldova’s EU accession process could be provided by the end of next June.
“I participated in the discussion on Moldova with more European leaders, in a format that was launched a few years ago, and the discussion was about, of course, Moldova’s accession to the European Union. The conclusion was that, while waiting for Hungary’s response on Ukraine’s accession – which is somehow linked to Moldova’s – we will have an answer by the end of June regarding Moldova, and we hope that the answer will be positive in the sense that Moldova will officially begin the process of accession to the Union with the first cluster,” President Nicusor Dan said after the European Political Community meeting in Yerevan.
President Maia Sandu and President of Romania Nicusor Dan on May 3-4 are taking part in the eighth meeting of the European Political Community (EPC), hosted in Yerevan by Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. With the titled, Building the Future Together: Unity and Stability in Europe, the event brings together leaders from over 40 countries, serving as an essential forum for the security and unity of the continent.
Before the EPC Summit, President Maia Sandu said that integration into the European Union was the most important priority of Moldova.
