President welcomed EU member states’ representatives responsible for enlargement to Chisinau
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu today received a delegation of the Working Party on Enlargement and Countries Negotiating Accession to the EU. Known as COELA, the group is made up of representatives of the member states responsible for monitoring progress in candidate countries and preparing decisions in the negotiation process. The visit is taking place under the aegis of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU.
During the meeting, the President reaffirmed Moldova’s firm commitment to decisively advance on the path of reforms and European integration. The head of state presented concrete progress in modernizing the country, with a focus on justice reform, combating corruption, and aligning national legislation with European standards.
The President also underlined that the Republic of Moldova is consolidating its role as an active and reliable partner of the European Union in the face of threats to regional security, contributing to the stability and resilience of the entire region.
COELA working group is the main coordination forum among EU member states within the Council regarding the enlargement process and accession negotiations.
