
Over 1,500 people affected by Chernobyl nuclear accident to get increased allowances
Participants in the liquidation of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident consequences, with severe, pronounced and moderate disabilities will receive increased monthly state allowances starting from 1 August 2025. A draft law was approved by the members of the Social Protection, Health and Family Committee.
Thus, starting from 1 August 2025, allowances will be increased by 250 lei for individuals coming from the ranks of the military, intelligence and security officers, the command body, internal affairs troops, and the penitentiary administration system. This increase will apply to disabilities caused by injuries, concussions, or mutilations during the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident consequences.
Additionally, individuals who have contracted radiation sickness or have acquired disabilities as a result of nuclear experiences and other incidents with ionizing radiation, during military or special service will benefit from it.
The legislative initiative belongs to deputy Iulia Dascălu from the Action and Solidarity Party faction.
