
Moldovans with Romanian citizenship can at Romania's presidential elections on 3, 4 May
The Romanian citizens from Moldova can exercise their right to vote at Romania's presidential elections on 3 and 4 May. Sixty four polling stations are open in Moldova, which operate as of 7:00 till 21:00.
The voting process abroad, including at polling stations of Moldova, last three days – on May 2, 3 and 4. In the northern region of the country, 18 polling stations are open, in the central region - 38 polling stations, of which 20 are in the Chisinau city and in the southern region - 8 polling stations.
To vote at the presidential elections, citizens must present one of the following documents: ID card, electronic ID card, provisional ID card, identity certificate, diplomatic passport, electronic diplomatic passport, service passport, electronic service passport, ordinary passport, electronic ordinary passport, temporary ordinary passport, military service card (for students in military schools).
At the 965 polling stations abroad organized for the 2025 presidential elections, Romanian citizens can vote, if they are abroad on the day of the ballot, regardless of whether they have a domicile or residence outside the country.
On 2 May, about 12,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship exercised their voting rights, being among the most active voters in the Diaspora. On the same day, 122,000 Romanians voted outside the country.
The presidential elections take place, after Romania's Constitutional Court cancelled the results of the first round of the presidential election held in November 2024.
Eleven candidates are running for the office of Romania’s president.
