
MPs to convene in plenary session on 22 May
Parliament of the Republic of Moldova will convene in a plenary session on 22 May starting at 10:00 AM, according to a decision adopted today by the standing bureau.
Thus, legislators are set to debate a comprehensive set of legislative projects, many of which aim to harmonize the national regulatory framework with European Union legislation.
On the agenda is tobacco control bill, the legislative initiative regulating the use of genetically modified microorganisms in isolated conditions, as well as the project regarding safety standards and regulations for passenger ships. The proposals aim to align the Republic of Moldova with European requirements in essential fields for health, environment and public safety.
Among the projects to be examined in the first reading are the accession to the 1907 Hague Convention for the peaceful resolution of international conflicts, combating illicit traffic of doping substances, and amendments to the water law.
Additionally, the Parliament will ratify the Credit Facility Agreement with the French Development Agency, aimed at modernizing public infrastructure through energy efficiency measures, as well as the Financing Agreement for Interreg Europe 2021–2027 Program, which aims at strengthening cooperation and public policies in partnership with Hauts-de-France region.
In the second reading, amendments related to postal voting, political parties, evaluation of judges and prosecutors and the provision of state-guaranteed legal assistance will be discussed.
Furthermore, deputies are set to vote on updating the Register of State-Protected Monuments and appointing an advisor for resolving appeals within ANSC.
In the third reading, proposals concerning the secondment of national experts to EU institutions and legislative amendments to combat electoral corruption will be examined.
