President congratulated EPRA platform members and thanked for support in modernizing audiovisual sector
President Maia Sandu has participated in the opening ceremony of the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities in the audiovisual sector (EPRA), organized in Chișinău. The event marks 30 years since the establishment of EPRA and 30 years since the adoption of the Audiovisual Law in the Republic of Moldova, the act that laid the foundation for creating the Audiovisual Council. Over 130 delegates from 50 countries are attending the meeting.
The head of state congratulated the EPRA platform members and thanked them for the support in modernizing the audiovisual sector and combating disinformation.
“Your decision to mark 30 years of cooperation here in Chișinău is a sign of trust in our country, in our progress, and our commitment to European values. We are grateful for the support and for believing in Moldova,” Maia Sandu said.
In her message, the head of state emphasized the importance of strengthening joint efforts to combat disinformation across Europe.
“All over Europe, we are witnessing coordinated disinformation campaigns intended to divide and weaken institutions. No country is immune. That is why your platform – this cooperation – is more important than ever. Because together, we can share solutions, protect our standards, and support each other in the face of growing threats,” Maia Sandu said.
EPRA is an independent platform of regulatory authorities in the field, established in April 1995 in Malta. The Republic of Moldova became a member in 2002.
