
New judges of Constitutional Court could be sworn in on Sunday
Parliament standing bureau will examine on Friday the request of Speaker Igor Grosu on convening of the Parliament in a special session on 17 August.
According to the parliament's communication and public relations department, the agenda of the special session includes the oath-taking ceremony of the new judges of the Constitutional Court, appointed by the Parliament, Government and the Superior Council of Magistracy: Liuba Șova, Nicolae Roșca, Sergiu Litvinenco, Domnica Manole and Ion Malanciuc.
The terms of five current judges of the Court expire on 16 August and the new ones will begin their term immediately after taking the oath.
According to the Parliament's Regulations, the legislature can be convened in extraordinary or special sessions upon the request of president of the Republic of Moldova, speaker or one-third of MPs.
Until the legal meeting of the new Parliament, the institution can fully exercise its representative, control and internal organization duties, but legislative activity is limited.
