An office of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova has been inaugurated in Hamburg. It will facilitate the provision of services for Moldovan citizens living in northern Germany. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, who is on a working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.
The consular office will be headed by Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Hamburg Andre Pilling. Its purpose will be to promote economic, commercial, and cultural cooperation and to facilitate dialogue with Moldovan citizens settled in the region. The activity of the consular office will contribute to attracting investments, developing contacts between local authorities, the business community, and the Moldovan community, in coordination with the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Germany.
Popșoi emphasized that the opening of the Honorary Consulate in Hamburg reflects the authorities’ commitment to maintaining an active link with citizens of the Republic of Moldova living abroad and to developing sustainable partnerships with the federal states of Germany.
“Hamburg is an important economic and logistics hub, and this office will facilitate new cooperation opportunities between investors, local authorities, and the Republic of Moldova and will support the Moldovan diaspora in the region. I thank Mr. Andre Pilling for his willingness to contribute to promoting our country’s interests and to strengthening Moldovan–German relations,” said Mihai Popșoi.
For his part, Andre Pilling highlighted the responsibility associated with this mandate and his motivation to contribute to the development of relations between the Republic of Moldova and northern Germany.
“It is an honor to represent the Republic of Moldova in Hamburg. I wish to support initiatives that bring the economic and cultural environments closer together, as well as to encourage concrete cooperation projects between this region and the Republic of Moldova,” noted Andre Pilling.
The inauguration ceremony, organized with the involvement of diaspora associations in Hamburg, was attended by representatives of local authorities, the business community, members of the consular corps, and the Moldovan community. On this occasion, all those present were offered trinkets – a symbol of our tradition and identity – a gesture that highlighted the active role of the diaspora in promoting the culture and traditions of the Republic of Moldova.
