Alegeri parlamentare 2025

VIDEO // Head of State message to diaspora

Moldova does not exist without Moldovans of diaspora. Please let’s keep our country upright and peaceful because we risk losing it. President Maia Sandu conveyed the message. She urged diaspora citizens to participate in the vote.

In a video address, the head of state reiterated that Moldovans in the country and those in diaspora are one whole.

“Do you live outside the country, have you made a life in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Germany, or another distant country? Maybe you went to earn some money, but do you want to return home? I also want you to return home or at least visit as often as possible. Moldova does not exist without Moldovans of diaspora, we are one whole. We live in the same longing, eat the same pie and we are all united by one thing – Moldova. Please keep Moldova upright and peaceful because we risk losing it,” said Maia Sandu.

The official emphasized that Russia’s plans can only be stopped by the fair vote of Moldovans from all over the world.

“I know you have heard many scare stories over time, but now it is different. The regional and global situation is different now. Russia is not our friend; it attacked a neighboring country without reason, cut off our gas, threatens us, wants to buy our votes and the country. Its plans can only be stopped by the fair vote of Moldovans from all over the world, from the villages of Moldova and cities of Europe, from district centers and American states,” stated Maia Sandu.

The president urged citizens in the diaspora to actively participate in the voting process to continue the country’s European path.

“Dear diaspora, through a fair vote you chose the European path, through a fair vote you entrusted me to walk this road together. I urge you, through a fair vote, not to let others steal our future, to guard Moldova. On September 28, the vote of every Moldovan will be essential,” emphasized Maia Sandu.

By 1:00 PM, over 95,000 voters have cast their votes abroad. Currently, there are crowds at several voting stations in other countries: Brussels, Belgium; Bucharest, Romania; Moscow, Russia; Venice, Italy; Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, France.

Parliamentary elections are being held today in the Republic of Moldova. Citizens are expected at the polling stations to elect deputies for the next Legislature.
