VIDEO // Three persons detained for preparing post-election destabilizations in Moldova
Officers of the National Investigation Inspectorate and policemen from the Fulger Special Police Brigade, in cooperation with the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) and prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS), have detained three individuals in a criminal case involving the preparation of disruptions and mass disorders after the conclusion of the electoral process and during protest in the Moldovan capital due on September 29.
According to the police, among the detained, there are two brothers, who have been monitored by officers for almost two months and are allegedly employed by the power wielding structures from the left bank of the Dniester. They are suspected of having leadership roles in coordinating, monitoring and logistically supplying the groups involved in destabilizing actions.
As a result of the searches, law-enforcers confiscated more objects, including pyrotechnic and flammable materials, meant to create panic and chaos among the crowd.
The police reiterated their call to the event’s organizers to comply with the legal framework, emphasizing that they bear full responsibility for the conduct of the events announced.
One of the opposition leaders, the co-chair of the Patriotic Electoral Bloc of the Socialists, Communists, Heart, and Future of Moldova, Igor Dodon, announced a protest for September 29. The politician called on people to defend their vote.
