VIDEO // Parliamentary Committee for European Integration to prioritize EU legislation, European funds, integration into energy and payments areas

Over the next four years, the Parliamentary Committee for European Integration will prioritize finalizing legislation bearing the EU label, monitoring the implementation of European norms, increasing the capacity to absorb European funds, and integrating the Republic of Moldova into European areas such as energy, payments, and roaming.

Chair of the Parliamentary Committee for European Integration Marcel Spatari made the statement.  He noted that the main objective is to accelerate the country’s European path through high‑quality legislation and institutions prepared for EU standards.

“The Parliamentary Committee for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova will, over the next four years, contribute to accelerating our country’s European path. This means, first and foremost, high‑quality legislation,” said Marcel Spatari.

According to him, draft laws bearing the EU label will be finalized in Parliament and will be submitted for MPs’ opinions and consultations with civil society, in order to ensure a participatory process and to anticipate the impact of implementing European legislation.

“The Committee will play an active role in monitoring the implementation of European legislation, especially in regard to economic legislation, so that the business environment is prepared for the new rules of the game in the fields of competition, state aid, and consumer protection,” the MP added.

The Committee will also contribute to the Europeanization of public administration and to increasing the capacity to absorb European funds.

“We will contribute to the Europeanization of public administration so as to increase the capacity to absorb European funds, so that European projects generate real benefits for citizens,” Spatari emphasized.

The Committee’s agenda also includes integration into the banking payments area, roaming, the European energy market, and infrastructure projects, as well as strengthening dialogue with EU member states and the European Commission.

In this context, Marcel Spatari reiterated that the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union is a national project that requires the involvement of all institutions and citizens.
