The Moldovan authorities are making efforts to maintain stability in Moldova, including in the energy sector, and we are confident that things will remain on a stable course. The statement was made in Berlin by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi has made statements to this effect in Berlin, in the context of the declaration of a state of alert in the energy sector nationally  for a period of 60 days.

The official expressed hope that “the current situation is temporary and things will return to normal in a short time.” He stressed that, in recent years, Moldova had significantly increased its resilience in the field of energy security.

“Just a few years ago, the country was 100 per cent dependent on Russian gas, and now this dependence no longer exists. We have diversified our supply sources and strengthened the resilience of our energy infrastructure. We are in the process of completing a high-voltage line, after which two more will follow. Thanks to the support of our European and American partners, Moldova will soon become an important transit country, one that will contribute to regional energy security. At the same time, we have invested in renewable resources. Therefore, our position is much better than it was just a few years ago,” said Mihai Popsoi.

The deputy PM thanked the partners for the support provided in strengthening the energy sector.

“This is proof of the resilience of our society and of the actions taken by the government. At the same time, it is also proof of the solidarity and extraordinary support provided to Moldova by its partners of the European Union, including Germany, and by the United States. Thus, we are making efforts to maintain stability in Moldova, including in the energy sector, and we are confident that, thanks to these actions and the support of our partners, things will remain on a stable course,” Mihai Popsoi noted.
