PHOTO // Moldovan foreign affairs minister has talks with Azerbaijani parliament speaker; boosting dialogue between two legislatures on agenda

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi today had a meeting  with Azerbaijan’s Parliament (Milli Majlis) Speaker Sahiba Gafarova. The two officials welcomed the work of the parliamentary friendship groups, the boosting  of bilateral dialogue and the development of cooperation between the two legislatures, including through the signing of agreements between the two institutions.

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi conveyed greetings on behalf of Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, along with an invitation to pay a visit to Chisinau.

“I was happy to see again Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova. We discussed the evolution of relations between Moldova and Azerbaijan and the importance of strengthening interparliamentary cooperation. The parliamentary friendship groups in both parliaments have good cooperation and contribute to maintaining a constant dialogue between our legislatures. Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova promised that she would pay a visit to Moldova this year,” Mihai Popsoi emphasized.

The Moldovan diplomacy head also noted the good level of the bilateral relations, reflected also through the existence of the direct Chisinau–Baku flight, which facilitates contacts between citizens and business communities.

For her part, Sahiba Gafarova expressed confidence that Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi’s visit to Baku would help strengthen relations between the two states and highlighted the potential for developing economic cooperation. The Azerbaijani speaker confirmed her readiness to pay a working visit to Moldova during this year.

Mihai Popsoi today pays a working visit to Baku, at an invitation by his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov. The agenda includes meetings with more Azerbaijani officials.
