Alexandru Machidon officially takes over as Prosecutor General
President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu today signed the decree appointing Alexandru Machidon as Prosecutor General of the Republic of Moldova. He will take the oath of office today.
According to a press release from the Presidency, Alexandru Machidon has served as Acting Prosecutor General since 28 May 2025, and starting from 30 April 2026 he will officially assume the mandate of Prosecutor General with full powers.
The appointment comes after the Superior Council of Prosecutors approved, at its meeting on 16 April, the report of the Evaluation Commission, which found that Alexandru Machidon meets the ethical and financial integrity criteria set out in Law no. 252/2023, thereby passing the external evaluation.
The new Prosecutor General is to take the oath of office later today.
