Chief architect of central Moldova district prosecuted for corruption; anti-corruption officers raid more locations across country

The chief architect of the central Hancesti district is prosecuted for corruption. Anti-corruption officers, along with prosecutors today are conducting searches at more locations across the country, as part of 11 files opened for passive bribery and influence peddling.

According to the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA), the official allegedly demanded and received amounts ranging from 200 to 500 euros from more residents of the district in exchange for issuing or expediting the issuance of permits for demolition, construction and design of properties located on the territory of Hancesti district. At the same time, he is suspected of claiming undue advantages, in order to influence members of the reception commissions at the completion of construction works.

Also, the concerned official has been previously involved in another criminal file under the examination of prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), also for corruption charges.

The searches are being conducted at more addresses in the Chisinau municipality, and Ialoveni and Hancesti districts. The actions aim to establish all circumstances of the case, identify the persons involved and hold them criminally liable.
