Moldova HiTech Park will be built in Stăuceni, Chișinău municipality, making it the first advanced technology park in our country and a nationally important economic platform. About 200 million euros will be invested in its development. Authorities estimate that the new technology park will create over 21,600 new jobs and generate economic revenue of over 1.28 billion euros in its first two decades of operation.
The new park aims to become the main center for innovation, technology, and education in the Republic of Moldova and will be located on a 50-hectare site near the National Arena. It is designed as ecosystem that connects education, science, research, entrepreneurship and leading industries, being envisioned as a smart city with modern offices, laboratories, university campuses and conference centers.
The project was presented today by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor.
"The government is developing an economic and technological platform of national importance in Stăuceni. Moldova HiTech Park is the first advanced technology park in our country, of strategic national importance, based on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data processing. It is a good local investment that contributes to job creation, especially for young people, to a university education based on skills gained from practice, the place where our entrepreneurs will grow and develop, and of course, the economy," said Doina Nistor.
The park will be carried out over the next five years, with EU support, as part of the Growth Plan, as well as contribution from the private sector and development partners.
"Moldova HiTech Park is thought of as ecosystem connecting education, science, research, entrepreneurship and leading industries. The park will be developed on a 50-hectare area in Stăuceni, within Chișinău perimeter, and near two major universities: the Technical University of Moldova and "Nicolae Testemițanu" State University of Medicine and Pharmacy. We are talking about a smart city, with modern offices, laboratories, university campuses, and conference centers - all designed to stimulate innovation and collaboration. Thus, it is a project that turns innovation from an abstract concept into a tangible economic engine," pointed out Doina Nistor.
With this investment from the Government and the European Union, over 21,600 well-paid jobs will be created in the first year of the park's full functionality in fields such as IT, engineering, services and medical research, microelectronics, creative industries, and others with high added value. At the same time, a net economic income of over 1.28 billion euros is estimated for the first two decades.
The project sees the formation of over 15,000 specialists in the next 10 years, through partnerships with the Technical University of Moldova, Nicolae Testemițanu University, and national and international universities. Direct investments estimated amount to 200 million euros, money that will stay in the country and work for Moldova's economy.
HiTech Park will benefit from a special legal regime.
"We emphasize sustainability, energy efficiency, and a work style compliant with the demands of the 21st century: modern buildings, photovoltaic panels, electric mobility and generous green spaces," MDED head said.
Doina Nistor emphasized that in the next government meetings, the necessary decisions will be examined to ensure the functionality of the park and initiate its creation processes.
"We will propose the first technical decision for the implementation of the Park at the cabinet meeting tomorrow. The construction and organization phase will last about five years, generating jobs in construction and related services. Moldova HiTech Park is an investment in a modern, secure European Moldova. In a world where success depends on talented people, good ideas, and the ability to innovate quickly, we want to build a place that keeps talents at home and offers them modern conditions to create, research and develop businesses. We aim for this park to become the main center for innovation, technology and education in the Republic of Moldova," Nistor said.
The construction of the new park is set to begin in 2026. "We have already started the design work. We are also in very advanced discussions with financing partners, international financial institutions that will provide the necessary financial resources for the park's infrastructure. We are talking about access to water, sewerage, roads, electricity," Nistor said.
"We are not at the feasibility study stage, but we are already at the implementation stage. Tomorrow, the creation of the company that will manage the park will be proposed for a government vote, and in September, the government decision to grant the park title will be proposed. All procedures will start. With the Ministry of Infrastructure, we are in discussions to have the study for the modernization of the node immediately next to the Arena and the park carried out this year. After that, we will begin the design work for infrastructure, but also for urban planning documents for this area," said Roman Cojuhari, director of the Public Property Agency.
As a result, with the creation of the new park, the necessary infrastructure in the area will also be developed to provide best working and mobility conditions.
In the development process of the project, authorities analyzed the experience of similar parks developed in several European countries, such as Spain or Estonia.
Moldova HiTech Park is a joint initiative of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the Ministry of Education and Research, the Public Property Agency, the Technical University of Moldova, Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Stăuceni City Hall, with the support of the European Union and the valuable contribution of Innovate Moldova Program funded by Sweden, the American Ukraine-Moldova Fund (UMAEF) and UNITH2B Architects design office.
