Two candidates for Prosecutor General's Office to be interviewed by CSP

The Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) will conduct the final interview today in the competition for the position of Prosecutor General of the Republic of Moldova. The candidates for the vacant position are current interim general prosecutor Alexandru Machidon and interim chief prosecutor of PCCOCS Victor Furtună.

The competition for the position of Prosecutor General was launched in June, and the deadline for submitting applications was 21 July. Candidates are evaluated based on clear criteria set by the CSP, including professional training, integrity and personal qualities. The candidate with the highest score will be proposed to the President of the Republic of Moldova for appointment to the position.

The position of head of the Prosecutor General's Office became vacant in late May, when Ion Munteanu was appointed judge at the Supreme Court of Justice. Subsequently, Alexandru Machidon, then deputy head of PCCOCS was appointed interim head of the Prosecutor General's Office.
