CNA director reports to Parliament: In 2025, National Anticorruption Center documented over 800 offenses and seized more than 710 million lei
Last year, officers of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA) documented more than 800 offenses and applied seizures totaling over 710 million lei. The data were presented today during a Parliament session by CNA Director Alexandr Pînzari.
According to the report, CNA officers reviewed 1,025 draft normative acts last year, of which 894 were subject to anticorruption expertise reports, totaling more than 19,000 pages analyzed. “Over 76% of the recommendations made were accepted, which significantly reduced the vulnerability of normative acts to abusive interpretations,” explained the head of the CNA.
In 2025, hundreds of training sessions were organized for nearly 17,000 beneficiaries – public officials, pupils, students, and representatives of the private sector. The CNA also launched six national information campaigns to increase the level of intolerance toward corruption.
Regarding the recovery of criminal assets, the CNA applied seizures on 1,066 assets, with a total value of over 710 million lei, within parallel financial investigations concerning 307 criminal cases and 674 subjects. “The management of these amounts generated savings for the state budget of approximately 57 million lei,” noted the CNA director.
Thus, last year, amounts exceeding 243 million lei were deposited or transferred to the accounts managed by the institution, and these measures prevented the alienation of assets. Pînzari specified that in 2025 the CNA detected and documented over 800 offenses, of which 792 were corruption and corruption-related offenses. Among these, 26 were particularly serious, 370 serious, 205 less serious, and 346 minor.
In terms of criminal prosecution, 1,597 criminal cases were managed, of which 651 were initiated by CNA officers, 382 were taken over from other bodies, and 564 were backlogs from previous periods. Of the 611 cases finalized, 296 were closed, and 305 were sent to court, involving 373 persons. Among the high-impact cases handled by the CNA are: the Hîncești District Court case, targeting four judges, one prosecutor and three lawyers; cases against lawyers and prosecutors in Chișinău; corruption schemes in the Central Customs Office, the Leușeni Customs Post, and social institutions in Vadul lui Vodă; systemic corruption in obtaining driving licenses in Călărași; offenses in the education system, including at Gheorghe Asachi Theoretical High School in the capital.
“These cases demonstrate the CNA’s commitment to combating systemic corruption and strengthening integrity in the public and private sectors, contributing to increased citizens’ trust in state institutions,” stated Pînzari.
The CNA head emphasized that the institution’s activity in 2025 reflected “a complex and sustained effort in preventing, combating and prosecuting corruption. The large number of detected offenses, the diversity of subjects involved, and the criminal cases sent to court highlight a firm and consistent approach, with a real impact on the society and economy of the Republic of Moldova,” concluded Alexandr Pînzari.
