ARBOM supported reception dedicated to Bulgaria’s National Day in Chisinau

A moment dedicated to friendship and cooperation between states took place in Chisinau, where the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria hosted an official reception on Bulgaria’s National Day. The event marked 148 years since Bulgaria’s liberation from Ottoman rule and brought together representatives of the authorities, the diplomatic staff, the business and the Bulgarian community in the Republic of Moldova.

The organization of the reception was also supported by ARBOM – the Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community in Moldova, which participated as an event sponsor.

Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Moldova Maya Dobreva underlined the historical significance of March 3 and the role played by democratic values and regional cooperation.

“March 3 signifies something important – that freedom is also a responsibility: to strengthen democratic institutions, to respect the rules, and to contribute to peace and stability in our region. The historical ties between Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova are close and sincere. Today, the Bulgarian community in Moldova preserves its language and cultural identity, actively contributing to the development of Moldovan society,” the ambassador said.

The event was also attended by speaker Igor Grosu, who highlighted the historical and cultural relations between the two states and the important role of the Bulgarian community in the Republic of Moldova, especially in Taraclia.

“I want to be with you today to celebrate the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria – a day that symbolizes the courage, dignity and strength of the Bulgarian people. The Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria are two countries connected through people, history and shared values. The Bulgarian community in the Republic of Moldova, especially the one in Taraclia, is part of our common history and shows that friendship between states begins at the level of people. That is why we deeply appreciate Bulgaria’s involvement in supporting education and culture in our country,” Grosu noted.

The official also spoke about cooperation in the education, including the transformation of Taraclia University into a branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse, a project that strengthens academic ties between the two countries.

A special message was delivered by Alexandr Borimecicov, administrative director of the Taraclia University branch and ARBOM director, who emphasized the importance of the partnership between Bulgarian institutions and the Bulgarian community in the Republic of Moldova.

“For the Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community in Moldova, it is a great honor to organize together with the Embassy of Bulgaria in the Republic of Moldova and to mark this very important date – the National Day of Bulgaria, March 3, the day of Bulgaria’s liberation from Ottoman rule. When such a partnership exists, concrete results also appear. These results turn into real actions: building sports grounds, supporting education, developing culture, and preserving the traditions of Bulgarians in Moldova. For us, this is particularly important, because only together can we achieve more. I am convinced that the opportunities offered by the Embassy of Bulgaria in the Republic of Moldova open excellent prospects for Bulgarians in Moldova, and Bulgaria will remain alongside our country in all processes aimed at developing and improving quality of life,” Borimecicov stressed.

The reception in Chisinau was not only a celebration of a historic date for the Bulgarian people, but also a reaffirmation of the close relations between Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova, as well as of the important role that the Bulgarian community plays in strengthening these ties.
