Minister Emil Ceban on conscript soldier injured during training activities: Young man in serious but stable condition
The conscript soldier injured during training activities is in serious but stable condition. The young man is hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the Bălți Clinical Hospital. The information was presented today by Minister of Health Emil Ceban, before the Government meeting.
According to the official, the soldier was extubated this morning, and his medical indicators are within normal limits.
“The young man is under constant monitoring. The team from the ‘Timofei Moșneaga’ Republican Clinical Hospital has also intervened. All necessary interventions have been carried out,” said Ceban.
The minister emphasized that the bullet passed through the xiphoid process, stomach, liver, spleen and the lower angle of the left lung, after which it exited through a rib.
“During the surgical intervention, the stomach and liver were sutured, the lung was sutured and drained, and the spleen was removed,” added Emil Ceban.
A conscript soldier was injured yesterday during training activities as a result of an accidental gunshot fired with a service weapon, a Glock 19, by another soldier. The incident occurred at around 16:40 at the Training Center of the ‘Moldova’ Motorized Infantry Brigade.
The Ministry of Defense announced that it is conducting an internal investigation to determine all the circumstances of the incident and is cooperating with the competent authorities.
