EUROPEAN VILLAGE // Dumitru Blajinu House of Culture in Pererita renovated with Government support

From July, the residents of Pererita village, Briceni district will benefit from a modern, energy-efficient and more comfortable cultural space for hosting community events. Dumitru Blajinu House of Culture is being renovated under a project implemented through the National Programme European Village, second edition, with an investment of almost 2 million lei.

The modernization works began in April 2026 and include thermal insulation of the exterior walls, insulation of the slab above the basement and of the roof ceiling, complete renovation of the façade, as well as rehabilitation of the rainwater drainage system. The project is to be finalized in July.

The cultural building, constructed in the 1970s, has not undergone major repairs in the last two decades, and the interventions have become necessary to improve the conditions offered to residents and to increase the building’s energy efficiency.

To implement the project, the Government, through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (NFRLD), allocated approximately 1.96 million lei.

Previously, Dumitru Blajinu House of Culture benefited from another modernization project under the National Programme European Village Express. At that time, the area around the institution was arranged and paved, creating better access conditions for residents and visitors.

The renovated infrastructure will benefit the entire community, as well as the users of the five nearby public institutions, including the House of Culture, the public library, Grigore Vieru Gymnasium, the Early Education Institution Mărțișor and Grigore Vieru Memorial House-Museum.

Dumitru Blajinu House of Culture hosts numerous cultural and artistic activities, including the International Festival dedicated to Grigore Vieru, the District Festival “Dumitru Blajinu”, performances and community events.

“The Cultural Center is the place where the most important events in the life of the village take place. The renovation of this building has a positive impact both on the residents and on the guests who visit the locality,” said mayor of Pererita village Victor Didic.

According to local authorities, the modernization of the cultural center will help preserve traditions, develop artistic activities and create a more attractive space for current and future generations. Pererita village has over 1,630 inhabitants, of whom about 200 are children.
