DOC // Three foreign diplomats and experts awarded by head of state for contribution to Moldova's democratization

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu has awarded state distinctions to international figures who have consistently supported the country's democratic processes, reforms and external cooperation. The decrees signed by the head of state were published in the Official Journal.

According to the document, director of Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation Eva Gustavsson was awarded the Order of Honor. According to the presidential decree, the distinction is awarded "in recognition of the continuous support to the Republic of Moldova in strengthening the rule of law by promoting and implementing democratic reforms and good governance."

Maia Sandu also awarded the same order to Stephen B. Nix, Senior Director for Eurasia at the International Republican Institute (IRI). The president mentions in the decree "significant contribution to promoting democracy, strengthening the rule of law and consistent support for the reform processes in the Republic of Moldova."

Eleonora Sinigur, in charge of international relations at the North Carolina Secretary of State Department (USA) was awarded the Civic Merit medal. The distinction is offered "in recognition of significant contribution to strengthening the bilateral partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America, promoting social and economic projects, and enhancing ties with the diaspora."

All three decrees came into effect upon signing.
