Drone detected in Anenii Noi district
Specialists from the Technical and Explosive Section of the General Inspectorate of Police (GIP) disabled the warhead and eliminated the risk of an uncontrolled explosion of the aircraft discovered this morning in a forest outside the village of Geamăna, Anenii Noi district.
According to the GIP, the location where the unmanned aircraft struck a tree was identified approximately 100 meters from the road, at a height of about 13 meters.
“Fragments of the aircraft, which had been damaged as a result of the impact, were identified on the ground. The investigation is continuing, with specialized examinations to be carried out,” the institution announced.
A drone illegally flew through the country’s airspace. The incident occurred last night amid the Russian Federation’s massive attacks on Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense announced that the air surveillance systems in operation, as well as the supporting systems, had not recorded any unauthorized flights through the country’s airspace during that period, most likely because of the aircraft’s low flight altitude.
Since the beginning of the current year, 57 incidents involving violations of the country’s airspace have been recorded, while from 2022 to the present, their number has reached 94.
The authorities urge people who identify drones, missiles, or fragments thereof not to approach or touch the objects. Such cases must be reported immediately to the competent authorities by calling the emergency number 112.
