Ministry of Education honors participants with best results at Great National Dictation

The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) honored today more than 130 participants who achieved scores of 9 and 10 at the Great National Dictation. This year's edition brought together 3,500 people, who wrote an excerpt from “Testament” by Gheorghe Urschi.

During the award ceremony, Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun thanked all participants for their involvement and for the interest they showed in the Great National Dictation.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Romanian language in a unique way. We are very happy that, from one year to the next, we see more and more people joining us, that this tradition is taking root and spreading across the country's districts. This is the best way we can celebrate the Romanian language. Master Gheorghe Urschi is an important figure in Moldovan society. Through his extraordinary humor, I believe he helped entire generations of Moldovans cope more easily with everyday realities. I urge you to continue joking and honoring the memory of the great master,” said Dan Perciun.

On August 31, 3,500 people participated in the fourth edition of the Great National Dictation, held in Chișinău's Great National Assembly Square and in 16 districts across the country on the occasion of Romanian Language Day. The event brought together students, teachers, parents, grandparents, and people of all ages who came to celebrate the Romanian language and test their knowledge.

A new feature of this year's edition was the expansion of the event's inclusive nature. For the first time, students with visual impairments also participated in the Great National Dictation. MEC ensured the necessary conditions for their participation, including the venue and materials required for the dictation.

The Great National Dictation was launched by MEC in 2023, under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova, as part of efforts to promote the Romanian language and encourage its correct use. The initiative brought together thousands of participants during its three previous editions.
