Foreign Affairs Ministry warns Moldovan citizens to avoid travels to Iran

Moldova’s Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) has issued a travel alert for the Islamic Republic of Iran, recommending that Moldovan citizens avoid any travel to this country amid the deteriorating security situation.

According to the MAE, Moldovan citizens who are already on the territory of Iran are urged to consider leaving the country immediately using available safe routes. The authorities request that Moldovan citizens in Iran notify the diplomatic mission of Moldova based in Baku of their presence, in order to communicate their location and contact details in case evacuation measures are organized.

The ministry specifies that leaving Iranian territory is possible both by air, via regular flights, and by land, through Turkey or Armenia. Additionally, any possible evacuation operations through Azerbaijan can be carried out only with the prior authorization of the Azerbaijani authorities, via the diplomatic mission of Moldova in Baku.

For consular assistance, citizens may contact the Consular Section at the emergency phone number +994 50 228 51 35 or by email at consulat.baku@mfa.gov.md.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry announces that it will continue to monitor developments in the Islamic Republic of Iran and will update its travel recommendations in line with the security situation.
