Thirteen judges from anti-corruption panels continue external evaluation procedure

Thirteen of the 16 judges who were part of the specialized panels for examining corruption and corruption-related cases are continuing the external evaluation procedure, after having submitted within the deadline the mandatory documents required by law.

According to the Judicial Evaluation Commission, 13 of them have submitted the Asset Declarations for the last five years and the Ethics Questionnaire, documents necessary for the continuation of the evaluation. These are judges from the Chișinău Court: Tatiana Bivol, Angela Vasilenco, Vasilisa Muntean, Veaceslav Cernalev, Viorelia Grigoraș, Olga Bejenari, Liliana Cușca, Ana Bologan, Alina Gorceac, Valeriu Curicheru, Vladislav Negru, Elizaveta Buzu, and Sergiu Ciobanu.

Judges Nicolae Corcea and Arina Ialanji have informed both the Commission and the Superior Council of Magistracy of their intention to resign from office. Judge Cristina Cheptea did not submit the requested documents within the established deadline.

In the next stage, the Commission will initiate the procedure of collecting and verifying data regarding the judges who have submitted the documents. The process involves accessing relevant information systems, requesting information from public institutions and private entities, as well as analyzing any complaints, provided that they are specific, relevant and well-founded.

The Judicial Evaluation Commission notes that citizens can submit relevant information regarding the judges under evaluation on the institution’s official website.

The external evaluation procedure aims to verify the financial and ethical integrity of magistrates who have served on anti-corruption panels since January 1, 2017.
