Foreign ministry issues warning for Moldovans traveling to USA

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration issued a report warning citizens that following a statement of U.S. President Donald Trump, entering the USA of people who represent a risk of transmission of COVID - 19 has been suspended.

The travel ban in the United States comes into force on 13 March 2020, 11:59 pm (Washington time) and aimed at people who have been in the last 14 days in any of the 26 European states in the Schengen area: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Holland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

The measures do not apply to legal US residents (and parents, spouses, legal guardians, their children), foreigners traveling at the invitation of the US Government in order to mitigate the epidemic and members of the armed forces.

MAEIE recommends Moldovans who are going to travel to the USA in the coming period, should thoroughly inform the airlines about the flight conditions and announcements of the US authorities.

Yesterday, the Bucharest authorities also announced that they would suspend the activity of several border crossing points with neighboring countries including Moldova. Today the customs of Rădăuți Prut and Oancea will not operate.

Ukraine also announced that it is planning to close several border crossings with all neighboring countries as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection. According to the latest information, a final decision on the list of crossing points has not yet been taken, which is under development.
