Moldova to benefit from Greece’s support in leveraging external assistance, advancing its European path

Moldova will benefit from Greece’s support in leveraging external assistance and advancing its European path. This will be possible after the signing in Athens of the Agreement on the provision of technical assistance, support for the implementation of institutional reforms and capacity building.

The document was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Eugeniu Osmochescu and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Greece Haris Theoharis, during the Moldovan official’s visit to Athens.

“This agreement will allow the implementation of technical assistance projects dedicated to our reforms in the European context, with the Greek side providing support in leveraging and absorbing external assistance and, consequently, in advancing our European path,” said Eugeniu Osmochescu.

Deputy Prime Minister Osmochescu invited corporations from Greece to participate in business events scheduled for the second half of this year in Chisinau, with the aim of turning the discussions initiated into investment contracts, given that more sectors of common interest have been identified, such as infrastructure, construction, industry, energy and logistics.

“This visit allows us to advance the country’s European agenda, to prepare proposals for the next meeting of the Moldovan–Greek intergovernmental commission, planned for 2027, and to establish the action plan for implementing the Agreement signed in Athens,” added Eugeniu Osmochescu.

In 2025, Greece ranked 23rd among Moldova’s trade partners. Moldova’s exports amounted to 81.5 million dollars (+22.7 per cent), while imports totaled 77 million dollars (+14.8 per cent), resulting in a positive trade balance of 4.4 million dollars for Moldova.
