Model Romanian language classrooms to be opened in educational institutions from Gagauz autonomy

Model Romanian language classrooms will be opened in educational institutions from the Autonomous territorial Unit of Gagauzia (UTA Gagauzia). The project was launched by the Education and Research Ministry (MEC), in order to help improve the quality of the educational process and to strengthen students’ language skills.

The first model classroom was inaugurated at the Boris Ianacoglo Theoretical Lyceum in the village of Copceac, Ceadar-Lunga district. The educational space has been modernized and equipped with new furniture (desks, chairs, cabinets), an interactive whiteboard, as well as a variety of teaching materials in Romanian, including dictionaries, orthographic charts and works of classical literature.

The investment value for equipping one model classroom is approximately 150,000 lei, with the resources allocated from MEC’s budget.

The head of the Service for Policies in the Field of Interethnic Relations at the Education and Research Ministry, Ivan Duminica, has said that the opening of model Romanian language classrooms at educational institutions in UTA Gagauzia was an investment in the quality of education and in the future of children.

“By creating modern, well-equipped spaces that are friendly to the educational process, we provide pupils and teachers with better conditions for studying the Romanian language and for valuing it as an instrument of communication, integration and personal development,” said Ivan Duminica.

The initiative is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to support the development of multilingual education and to promote the study of the Romanian language among pupils and adults belonging to ethnic minorities.
