Japan grants Moldova 21 million lei to improve quality of public media services

Japan will provide a grant of about 21 million lei for the purchase of modern audiovisual production and broadcasting equipment for the Teleradio-Moldova company.

To this end, the government today approved the draft law on the ratification of the Understanding between the governments of Moldova and Japan on technical cooperation for financing the Project, Improvement of television programmes’ production equipment at the Public Institution Company Teleradio-Moldova.

At the cabinet meeting, Culture Minister Cristian Jardan, said that the project aimed to enhance the quality of media services at the public broadcaster.

The financial resources provided will also contribute to strengthening the technical and professional capacities of the national television’s employees. At the same time, the project seeks to align production processes with international technological standards, given the urgent need to modernize the technical infrastructure of the public radio and television company.

The Understanding between the governments of Moldova and of Japan on technical cooperation for financing the Project, Improvement of television programmes’ production equipment at the Public Institution Company Teleradio-Moldova, was signed in Chisinau on December 4, 2025.

The draft law on the ratification of the Understanding is to be submitted to parliament for examination and approval.
