List of compensated medical devices to be extended in Moldova in 2025

The Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (MMDA) informs that the Ministry of Health has set as a priority for the 2025 year the extension of the list of compensated medical devices. Among the new devices included, there are urinary catheters for self-catheterization and glucose monitoring sensors, which will be funded from the Mandatory Health Insurances Funds.

According to MMDA, suppliers interested in including these devices in the compensation system are invited to submit their files according to the regulations established by Government Decision no. 104/2022.

The necessary documentation must be sent to the Secretariat of the Council for Compensated Medical Devices at MMDA, both in physical and electronic formats.

In 2024, the list of compensated medicines was expanded with five international names meant for the treatment of arterial hypertension, prostate carcinoma, benign prostatic hyperplasia and the prevention of premature births or spontaneous abortion. Presently, it includes 171 international names, and the list of compensated medical devices includes six types of devices and 49 commercial models.

Starting from April 1, 2024, compensated medicines and medical devices have been prescribed exclusively through the "e-Prescription" information system, which provides patients with faster and more secure access to treatment, more efficient monitoring of adherence to medication and possibility of retrieving the compensated prescription in multiple visits to drug store.
