Moldovan president urges citizens to learn about local public administration reform
President Maia Sandu is urging citizens to learn about the advantages of the local public administration (APL) reform and to follow the information campaign launched by the government on the modernization of local administration.
The head of state’s message comes after the government of Moldova launched the campaign to promote the APL reform, aimed at explaining to citizens the necessity and benefits of the process of transforming local public administration. The first video of the campaign was published on the government’s official channels and highlights the advantages that the reform can bring to communities across the country.
“When administrations join forces, the quality of services increases, infrastructure is modernized more quickly, projects are brought into localities and the standard of living rises. Villages remain in the hands of the people. Traditions stay the same. Only the capacity of mayoralties to do more for the community changes,” said Maia Sandu.
The Moldovan president called on citizens to find out more about the proposed changes and their impact on the localities where they live.
“See how your locality can benefit from the APL reform,” the head of state noted.
According to the authorities, the local public administration reform aims to strengthen the administrative capacity of mayoralties and to create stronger communities, able to provide quality public services and attract more investments and development projects.
The first video material of the campaign promotes the idea of a more efficient local administration, closer to citizens and better adapted to the current needs of communities. At the same time, the video conveys the message that local development can be accelerated through cooperation between localities and more efficient use of available resources.
