VIDEO // Voluntary amalgamation in Fălești: town halls of Glinjeni, Pietrosu, Bocani, Ișcălău and Catranîc merging

The town halls of Glinjeni, Pietrosu, Bocani, Ișcălău and Catranîc in Fălești district have decided to merge in order to provide better services to citizens and attract new investments in community development.

As part of the voluntary amalgamation process, the participating localities will benefit from development incentives from the Government. The localities in Fălești have decided that the incentives offered by the Executive will be invested in the modernization of local infrastructure.

Mayor of Glinjeni village Viorel Zarija welcomed the launch of the voluntary amalgamation process, emphasizing that it provides an opportunity to attract new investments in the localities.

“Glinjeni Town Hall has adopted a decision on voluntary amalgamation with Pietrosu village, Bocani, Iscălău commune and Catranîc village. All decisions were voted by the majority of councilors. We discussed with the mayors involved and agreed that all the funds that will be allocated will be directed towards the modernization of infrastructure: roads, street lighting, water. I believe that voluntary amalgamation is very welcome,” said Viorel Zarija.

So far, around 790 town halls in the country are involved in the voluntary amalgamation process.

In late January, the Government announced the launch of the preparation process for the local public administration reform, as part of efforts to modernize administration and improve public services. Subsequently, the authorities organized extensive public consultations, after which the reform concept was presented.

Recently, Parliament approved legislative amendments that simplify and improve the voluntary amalgamation process of administrative-territorial units. According to the authorities, the changes were developed following consultations in which more than 4,500 mayors and citizens participated. At present, more than 400 decisions to initiate the voluntary amalgamation process have been approved at national level.
