Minister of Internal Affairs: MD-ALERT System to be fully operational by late 2027

MD-ALERT system will be fully operational by late 2027. The announcement was made by Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin, during an exclusive interview for MOLDPRES.

The official emphasized that MD-ALERT system represents a very important step for the safety of citizens.

“This will allow citizens to receive immediate warning messages directly on their mobile phones through the operators' communication networks in risk situations – extreme weather events, major accidents, or other emergencies. The aim is to reach every person so people can react in time and protect themselves,” the official said.

Additionally, the minister added that the feasibility study has been completed so far, and the second phase of the project is currently being implemented.

“In 2026, we will carry out the necessary acquisitions, installations, and configurations, and the MD-ALERT system will be fully functional by late 2027, according to the National Program for Moldova's EU Accession 2025-2029,” stated Daniella Misail-Nichitin.

The minister also mentioned the partnership with Romania, initiated this spring, to improve the 112 Emergency Service.

“The partnership we initiated with Romania to modernize the 112 service means, first of all, more safety and a quicker response for citizens. People will feel that when they dial 112, the waiting time is reduced, and the response from authorities comes more promptly and is better coordinated. The difference will be clear: a friendlier, faster, and more efficient 112 service with a high level of professionalism,” Daniella Misail-Nichitin explained.

She noted that the Agreement will allow for the training of teams and the use of modern technologies in the activity of the 112 Service.

“This agreement allows us to apply the best European practices, train teams, and use modern technologies so that every call is managed efficiently, whether we are talking about fires, accidents, medical emergencies, or cross-border situations. With support from our partners in Romania, we are succeeding in bringing European standards to the emergency services that benefit every family in the Republic of Moldova,” concluded the official.
