
Minister of Internal Affairs: Police and responsible institutions conducted about 588 searches in cases of corruption and illegal financing of political parties
Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin announced today that the police are prepared and, together with all responsible institutions, will ensure that elections are held safely. She added that in the past few months, about 588 searches were conducted in cases of corruption and illegal financing of political parties.
"On 28 September, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will ensure the safety of every vote and encourages all citizens to vote for freedom and security," stated the minister.
Referring to the measures taken to ensure a fair election, the official said that so far, about 588 searches have been carried out, targeting over 100 individuals.
"These actions have been undertaken as part of investigations into electoral corruption and the illegal financing of certain political parties. The aim is to ensure that the elections are conducted safely and fairly," the cited source mentioned.
The minister further emphasized that the police are prepared and, together with all responsible institutions, will ensure the safe conduct of the elections.
"Risks exist, which are natural in the context of an election. It is our responsibility to ensure that every citizen can vote peacefully and safely," added the minister.
On 28 September, citizens of the Republic of Moldova are expected to go to the polls to choose representatives in parliament.
