Nicolae Testemitanu Medical University of Moldova to host sixth edition of SimOlympic 2025 University Simulation Olympiad

The Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) will host the sixth edition of the SimOlympic 2025 University Simulation Olympiad. The competition is organized by the University Center for Simulation in Medical Training (CUSIM) and is part of the string of activities dedicated to the 80th anniversary of USMF’s foundation.

The Olympiad will take place on October 20, starting at 13:00, at CUSIM (31 August 1989 Street, no. 137 A).

SimOlympic is a unique competition, exclusively for medical students, who show their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in managing simulated clinical scenarios that reproduce complex and critical medical situations. Teams, made up of 4-5 students, are trained to act under pressure and in a limited timeframe, demonstrating communication, collaboration, critical thinking and decision-making abilities. The evaluation is conducted by a jury made up of field specialists, who assess the performance of participants based on communication criteria, case management, correct enforcement of medical procedures and teamwork.

Each team will follow a common medical dress code and will present a video of a maximum of two minutes, screened during the opening ceremony. The competition will take place in several stages: quarter-finals, semi-finals and the grand final, according to a set schedule. The proposed scenarios will be varied, covering various medical specialties. The strongest teams will compete for the title of winner of the 2025 edition, in a final with public access and live broadcast.

The SimOlympic 2025 competition aims to encourage excellence and innovation in medical education, strengthen students' practical skills and professional ethics, stimulate collaboration between university staff, students and international partners, and reaffirm the role of CUSIM as a reference entity in medical training through simulation.
