Parliament seeks senior member after Vladimir Voronin refuses to lead first session

After Communist Party leader Vladimir Voronin refused to chair the first meeting of the new Parliament, the Legislative is set to find another senior member to lead the official opening of the XIIth Legislature. The next senior member could be conductor Nicolae Botgros.

Voronin justified his decision with harsh criticisms of the current government.

“This Parliament does not reflect the real preferences of society,” said the PCRM leader.

According to the decree signed today by head of state Maia Sandu, the first session of the new Legislature will take place on Wednesday, October 22. Then the leadership of Parliament will be elected and the formation of a new Government will begin.
