
Electoral campaign for new local elections starts in Moldova
The electoral campaign for the new local elections starts on October 17. In the context, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) urges the electoral competitors to conduct the campaign under conditions of fairness and integrity.
According to the CEC, during the electoral campaign, candidates are prohibited from using administrative resources, including launching or participating in the launch of infrastructure projects or procurements made from the national public budget, the use of equipment, means or public property.
Also, authorities, public institutions and similar entities cannot provide or grant electoral competitors public goods or other favors, except on a contractual basis, under conditions of equality.
At the same time, electoral contenders are banned from organizing concerts, contests or other events and demonstrations involving performers or creative and artistic staff both from the country and abroad, displaying slogans or other messages during these events, as well as distributing materials containing the symbolism of the electoral competitor or other identifying elements, as well as participating in events on political promotion purposes.
During the electoral campaign, competitors can organize meetings with voters, and local public administration authorities are obliged to ensure the possibility of conducting them under equal terms and conditions.
On November 16, new local elections will take place in the following settlements: the village of Bascalia, Basarabeasca district; Calinesti commune, Falesti district; Natalievca commune, Falesti district; the village of Ustia, Glodeni district; the city of Leova, Leova district; Cremenciug commune, Soroca district.
